Ceramic Series, various sizes
Hand formed stoneware slab, each piece is hand cut, ripped, bent, folded, and gouged. Then they are washed with oxides, underglazes, hand-painted, scribed with pencil and finished with a matte white engobe. Each piece is kiln-fired multiple times resulting in a texturally rich and layered depth of surface.

About this Series
I created this series as a way to reflect on the innocence and exploratory nature of childhood in the city. Childhood is not perfect, but full of dings, doodles, scrapes, pockmarks, danger, and formative experiences -- but often when we think back on it, our memories reveal it was more pure and beautiful than we ever expected. |
